Project

Spyscape is a multi-sensory museum experience that brings the worlds of hacking, surveillance and espionage to life through physical and digital interaction. Visitors move through profiling systems, interrogation booths, surveillance missions and laser challenges, building a personal route through the experience rather than simply reading about it.

Role

I was Lead Developer within a multidisciplinary team building interactive exhibits, from screen-based experiences to physical interfaces designed for heavy public use. Alongside designing and developing the core interactions, I recruited two developers and led a team of three through delivery.

Technology

The exhibits were web-based and made extensive use of microcontrollers to connect digital systems with physical interfaces. React, Redux, Node.js, SVG, WebGL and Three.js formed the software stack, while Arduino-based hardware bridged the exhibits' physical controls and sensing systems.

Outcomes

Delivered a permanent interactive exhibition in New York that is still operating, including a distinctive profiling system developed with the former Head of Training at British Intelligence.
