Expo 2020 Exhibits

Project
Expo 2020 Dubai was one of the largest world expos ever staged, drawing millions of visitors under the theme 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future'. DP World commissioned a suite of interactive exhibits that could tell the story of global shipping in a way that felt personal, surprising and human rather than corporate and didactic.
Role
Working as a freelance creative technologist through Open Lab, I led the interaction design for the exhibit spaces, shaping the games, questions and interactive concepts that formed the visitor journey. I prototyped the early ideas and then moved into development, building a corridor questionnaire experience in Vue.js with animated SVGs that translated cargo data and logistics flows into something lively, readable and easy to grasp.
Approach
The challenge was to make something as vast and abstract as global shipping feel immediate to a visitor with only a few minutes to spare. Games and questions created a way in, turning explanation into discovery. Animated SVGs were central to that approach, helping complex systems feel visual, readable and engaging without overloading the experience.
Technology
Vue.js powered the interactive questionnaire experience, with animated SVGs carrying the data visualisation and motion design across the exhibit suite.
