Project

Revamp was a live performance tool developed during my MA at RCA: a generative music sequencer with a visual interface designed to be projected across a club space. Performers could use it in real time to compose and layer drum and bass, with the interface itself becoming part of the performance.

Role

Working with Boris Muller and Marcus Gosling, I helped develop the performance tool and shape the relationship between the sequencing interface, the projected visuals and the live musical output. The ambition was to make the system playable for performers while still legible for an audience.

Concept

The project sat at the intersection of instrument, performance and software, asking how a tool can be both functional and theatrical: something that produces sound and image together and makes composition visible to a room full of people.

Outcomes

We developed a live generative music performance tool at RCA that combined real-time sequencing with a projected visual interface built for club environments.
